And Laotse says: ‘A travel of 1000 miles begins with the first step!’ Find you own Wing Chun way
The way of Wing Chun – Wing Chun Dao
‘Kung Fu’ is commonly used as a colleting phrase for all Chinese martial arts. The phrase ‘Kung Fu’ however is translated as ‘hard work’ or as ‘a man who found himself through practice’.
The Far East martial arts have made a development from arts of war to a meditative method to a means of developing one’s character and to improve spiritual awareness.
In the Chinese philosophy Kung Fu is practiced ‘Tao’.
‘Tao’ means ‘the path’
Therefore, Wing Chun is far more than simply learning different fighting techniques. It is about training health and consciousness. Body and spirit of a human being are connected by effects. By training Wing Chun the student discovers the techniques suiting him best in a natural way.
Wing Chun Dao does not only contain the training of a highly efficient self defense method with simple and logical principles, but also practicing forms of Qi Gong according to Taoist teaching of strengthening and activating the regeneration forces of the body.
In Wing Chun Dao the student learns the Taoist principle of ‚Wu Tei‘ – Do and do not! That is why Wing Chun Dao is a path to finding yourself, to being more calm, self-confident and healthy.
‘The path is the aim’!
The training itself already is the path on which every Wing Chun student takes his very personal Kung Fu path. On it, body and spirit, thinking and acting form a natural unit.
By now, there are very many different variations of Wing Chun that are based on the personal interpretation of the single teachers and associations. Many still claim to be in the tradition of the teaching of Grandmaster Ip Man even though they have shaped their system of associations in a way that is more or less far away from the idea Grandmaster Ip Man taught. Here, we at least still have the heritage that was passed on by his sons.
Wing Chun Dao is ‘The way of Wing Chun’
Because the path is always an individual one, it does not matter whether one has already learnt their variations of Wing Chun. Wing Chun Dao is a path to finding yourself, to being more calm, self-confident and healthy.
Our aim is to make the people aware and attention-paying in every situation of their lives, and to remain spontaneous and open-minded in the face of threats and difficult situations. Moshe Feldenkreis, a Jewish scientist and Judo master once said: ‘Only if you know what you do, you may do what you want!’
The result of the Wing Chun training is not only to learn a martial art, but rather to explore one’s own body and mind with it. The ability to fight is improving automatically while training.
Samuel Kwok Once told me: ‘Wing Chun is not a matter of training; it is a matter of understanding!’
Wing Chun is not a matter of training; it is a matter of understanding!’
The path is the aim! The training itself already is the path on which every Wing Chun student takes his very personal Kung Fu path. On it, body and spirit, thinking and acting form a natural unit.
With the knowledge of the original Ip Man family style it is guaranteed that the student finds his own path in Wing Chun.
We invite everyone to discover the path of Ip Man Wing Chun.
