I have been interested in martial arts since I was a teenager. Because my interest kept increasing I turned to several martial arts and specialized in certain areas. These were Aikido, Karate, boxing and Ju-Jutsu. After many years of hard training one question remained unanswered:

How does our body work in a fight and what opportunities do my own biomechanics offer me?

None of all the martial arts I have practiced to that point was able to give an answer. I understood that every martial art on its own was limited and caught in its system. I had limits of learning concerning the ways I was able to use my own body in a fight. In the end, this leads to executing movements that are physically and biomechanically far from optimal.

I was still not sufficiently pleased. Studying movements without gaining the background knowledge makes the movements bad or not applicable at all. During my search for a solution I found the Wing Tsun system of a large German association. To my surprise, they were unable to answer my questions as well. But my former research about Wing Tsun/Chun clearly showed that Wing Tsun/Chun was rather a principle than a fighting system. I knew for for Wing Tsun was the answer to my question.

It was only through the contact to Sifu Horst Drescher of the IMWCD that I understood Wing Tsun is not the same as Wing Chun. Horst needed not more than 5 minutes to show me the large differences between the systems. The Wing Chun taught by Sifu Horst Drescher is a system of structures and it has fix principles explaining situations.

After this introduction it was impossible for me to return to the large Wing Tsun association. It was obvious they taught a Wing Tsun without principles, merely a random fighting system. Wing Chun on the other hand is everything but random. It is the answer to the question: How do I always fight with an advantage over the attacker?

I am happy to be learning the Wing Chun Sifu Horst Drescher teaches.

All my questions were answered. Logical and understandable!

Juri Tomak

Hello dear visitor,

My name is Juri Tomak. For eleven years (written 14.02.2016) now I have got the privilege to learn from Sifu Horst Drescher and to pass on his interpretations of Ip Man’s Wing Chun system. During this time I was especially inspired by his dedication and his will for continuing improvement.

As the studied engineer I am, I am always very pleased to analyze positions, movements or principles with Sifu Horst. Again and again we discover new little improvements and optimizations in the forms or in our Chi Sao. This way we motivate each other to keep improving and to always ask ourselves critically about what we have learnt.

It is an honor and a pleasure to go my path of Wing Chun together with Sifu horst over the next decades.

Why is Ip Man Wing Chun more effective than WT.

The main advantage of Ip Man Wing Chun is that one can practice it in means of a selfdefense art much faster. The Student learns the essential principles from the early beginning: the „inner power“ (Gung Lik) and the ability to transfer energy towards the enemy explosively (Fajin). The complete System, divided in learning-modules, can be finished in 3 - 4 years.

Within the first form „Siu Lim Tao“ (the little idea) these principles and movements are included. Sifu Horst Drescher explains the whole content and all forms extremely detailed in his books, DVDs and APPs. This enables students to understand, learn and train at home.

The total learning success is ensured by Sifu Horst Drescher and his team in Rheine and Ibbenbüren.

Thank you for sending all 4 DVDs. Now I´m able to learn for myself – very good explanations!

Theo Banner

Hello my name is Theo Banner. Im 30 years and i was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan in the U. S. I began my wing chun training at Ambrose Academy in Livonia, Mi 2012. Due to financial issues i had to stop attending class. However my passion for the art only grew stronger. I continued training on my own and one day while i was researching information on wing chun i came across the website wingchundao.de.

I read through the different articles on the site and i loved how all of the information was presented. Everything was simple ,direct and easy to understand. I immediately bookmarked the site. Upon finishing i saw That you could write an email with any questions and so i did. I was writing to say thank you for the wonderful website. I have seen several things like this on various sites and i never thought i would get a response. About a day later I received an email back from Sifu Horst Drescher who took immediate interest in how i was doing with my training. I have over 100 question that I have presented to sifu Horst about the wing chun system and there has not been one that he has not answered clearly. I have seen tremendous improvements in my training since I found Sifu Horst Drescher and this amazing website wingchundao.de. Sifu Horst demonstrates his mastery on every level. His wisdom on the art and willingness to share it the way he does so genuinely is truly remarkable.

Im thankful for Sifu Horst and wing chun dao. Thank you Sifu Horst Drescher, thank you for the wonderful website and for all you do. Im proud to be your student.
